ShareGrid Community Rules

These Community Rules, together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitute the agreement between you and ShareGrid. If you do not want to agree to the Community Rules, you must not use ShareGrid.

Please take these rules seriously and honor them in the spirit in which they are intended. We will do our best to enforce them consistently and fairly, and ultimately we’ll try to do what we think is best in each situation.

 

ShareGrid Rentals

Renters
  • Respect the gear.

Treat all equipment with respect and care. Tell the owner where you’re shooting.

  • Communicate clearly.

Arrange pick up and drop off timing and location in advance. Let the owner know immediately if there is an issue with the equipment.

  • Do the paperwork.

Practice good check-in and check-out procedures. Always use the checksheets.

  • Be yourself.

 Be honest about your experience level. Don’t impersonate someone else.

  • Keep it on ShareGrid.

Don’t try to take transactions or messaging outside the site. Don’t encourage others to breach our Terms of Service.

Owners
  • Keep it clean.

Make sure all of your gear is tested, cleaned, and fully functional.

  • Commit to the rental.

Only accept requests you intend to proceed with. Your renter is depending on you and your equipment.

  • Do the paperwork.

Practice good check-in and check-out procedures. Always use the checksheets.

  • Be helpful.

Renters will remember the extra care and effort you put in. Your service is your reputation.

  • Keep it on ShareGrid.

Don’t try to take transactions or messaging outside the site. Don’t encourage others to breach our Terms of Service.

ShareGrid Buy & Sell

  • Be kind.

Do not discriminate against anyone based on their background.

  • Respect each other’s time.

Only inquire about Listings you are genuinely interested in purchasing.

  • Over-communicate.

Make sure you’re on the same page about the equipment. Double check about meeting location and timing. Show up early.

  • Be honest.

Do not misrepresent yourself, and do not pretend to be somebody else.

  • Keep it on ShareGrid.

ShareGrid Buy & Sell Listing Conditions

Sellers are responsible for setting accurate Listing conditions and descriptions.
ShareGrid has the following Listing conditions that a Seller can set:

Brand New
A brand-new, unused, unopened item in its original packaging (where applicable).
Like New
Pre-owned equipment, but appears as new. There are no signs of wear on the item.
Very Good
Very minor cosmetic damage on the body of the equipment, but nothing that interferes with the functionality of the equipment. Equipment works perfectly.
Good
Shows signs of use. Some cosmetic damage such as scrapes, scratches, or dings. Functions perfectly.
Acceptable
Shows signs of heavy use. May have some minor functional issues, which must be clearly described.
For Parts
Does not function as intended and is not fully operational. This includes items that are defective in ways that render them difficult to use, items that require service or repair, or items missing essential components.

Note: By default, all Listings are set to 'Good’ condition to be suitable for rentals.
Please adjust your Listing condition, if needed, before offering your Listing for sale.

 

ShareGrid Policies

Rental Cancellation Policy
Renters can cancel a Listing rental request before it is accepted, more than 48 hours before the start date, or within 2 hours of the request being accepted and the rental is fully refundable. If the renter cancels within 48 hours of the rental pick-up date, they will receive a 50% refund. If the renter cancels within 24 hours of the rental pick-up date, the rental is non-refundable. Rental cancellation fees are imposed at owner's discretion. Our Community Fee is non-refundable.
Rental Pick-up & Drop-off Times
Renters must pick up Listing rentals after 2:00PM on the rental pick-up day and return equipment by 12:00PM on the drop-off day, unless both the Renter and the Owner agree, in writing on the Rental Conversation, to another time. Late rental drop-off fees may apply if any item is returned later than the agreed upon date and time.
Late Rental Drop-off Fees
Rentals dropped off after 12:00PM on the drop-off day, or after the previously agreed upon time, are subject to a late drop-off fee that equals a one day rental fee (including the Community Fee and any coverage option fees) for the Listing. The Renter must immediately pay any late drop-off fee fees, which will be charged every 24 hours after late drop-off until the rental is returned to the Owner. Late rental drop-off fees are imposed at Owner's discretion.
Buy & Sell Cancellation Policy
An offer may be canceled by the Buyer and the Seller before or during the meetup for any reason. The Buyer will be issued a refund for the amount charged. If the Buyer wishes to cancel the transaction after payment has been confirmed at the meetup, the Buyer will be required to request a refund.
Buy & Sell 48-Hour Return Policy
The Buyer has 48 hours to request a return and refund, for any reason, of their Listing purchase after they pick it up from the Seller. If the item shows any signs of wear, was damaged by the Buyer in any way, or does not include all items originally included in the sale, it will not be eligible for a refund. The Seller agrees to accept the return of the Listing from the Buyer, and agrees to send a full refund to the Buyer, if the Buyer requests a return and refund during these 48 hours. All sales are final 48 hours after the Buyer picks up the Listing, and any returns and refunds after this period are at Seller's discretion.
Taking Rental or Sale Offline
The exchange of personal contact information before a rental request or offer has been accepted is not permitted. Any efforts to move rentals or sales initiated on ShareGrid off-site to avoid fees is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination. Any transaction initiated on ShareGrid but completed off-site will not be protected by any of ShareGrid’s policies or protections.
