Ancient Egypt General Editor: David P. Silverman
Kay, a priest who served under the first four pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty: Sneferu, Khufu, Djedefre and Khafre. The tomb is painted with beautiful scenes of daily life. Among them are processions of boats led by the deceased, an offering scene and a list of offerings. On the left side of the tomb's entrance is a touching and unique scene of a lady embracing Kay with both arms... Kay left a biographical detail that provides us with some idea of how Egyptian tomb workers were categorized at the time: "It is the tombmakers, the draftsmen, the craftsmen and the sculptors who built my tomb. I gave them beer and bread. I made them take an oath that they were satisfied." (Page 180)
Imagine that, if I just maade you promise me you were satisfied with the rental. Haha ! Nah man, that's your freedom of choice to do as you will. Keep the story choo-choo trainin' the minds of a generation how to think mr .
Master Shots by Christopher Kenworthy
When you want to show the actor in the left-hand seat, you change to a completely different angle. Here, the camera is placed directly in front of the car, with a long lens framing this actor's face for a close-up. There are many variations on this approach, with cameras at various angles and with different framings. The important point, however, is that whatever angle or framing you choose, only on character should be the focus of attention at any one time. This shot is about watching and waiting. (Page 168)
There's a lot that goes into inspiration. Some of us never find what we're looking for, for me there's been the Tai Ching to help find every possibility to own, one-at-a-time. There's also a bounty of other sources we know we'll find if we put in the effort. (-:
An Essay Concerning Human Understanding by John Locke
I may truly say, that they are not the only nor the best way of reasoning, for the leading of those into truth who are willing to find it, and desire to make the best use they may of their reason, for the attainment of knowledge. (Page 576)
Yeah man, there's quite an endless bounty of knowledge to choose from. It's hard to help us make decisions. Sometimes we simply feel so wooden, Pinocchio what I mean? :-)
The Adventures of Pinocchio by B. Collodi
"How good you are, my Fairy," said Pinocchio, drying his eyes "and how much I love you!"
"I love you, too," answered the Fairy, "and if you wish to stay with me, you may be my little brother and I'll be your good little sister." (Page 131)
I mean that's the way it should have come down to. When it doesn't work out as adults, you still get to act like a kid. Or perhaps we're all just kids anyways, acting like adults, rather than vice-versa?
Lives of Confucius by Michael (fem.) Nylan and Thomas Wilson
Integrity and eventually participate in the cosmic process of Heaven and Earth's nurturing of all things. Adopting a gradualist approach to perfection, Zhu Xi says, "after the sage, lesser men must extend their partially manifested goodness in order to realize their full potential. (Page 133)
That's what Zhu Xi says! Try and say that, 9x fast, Zhu Xi says, Zhu Xi shays, Shou Shei Sheaz. . .
The French: Portrait of a People by Sanche De Gramont
Germans put an end to their wait-and-see attitude." On March 16 [1940], he gleefully reported to Daladier: "Ther Germans are finally on the move." On May 10, in an order to the troops, he said: "The enemy is attacking where we expected him." A week later French resistance collapsed. (Page 280)
Those nasally french, huh huh huhz. I suppose if you have to pick a battle between the French or the Germans, it's a question of whether you're a linguist or an idealist? :-) ;-)
Slapstick by Kurt Vonnegut
And time flew. I found myself running for President one day. My valet pinned a campaign button to the lapel of my claw-hammer coat. It bore the slogan which would win the election for me: (Page 181)
'Lonesome No More!'... had flooded its tunnels, and had buckled all but one bridge, which was the Brooklyn Bridge. (Page 182)
And if that didn't leave you on the Barn door of the edge of your seat, here's one more reel of inspiration the gear you into full on dream-mode. Rearin' to make another classic scene come to life. Here's breathin' to ya:-)
The Washing of the Spears: The Rise and Fall of the Zulu Nation by Donald R. Morris
A spear thudded into him, but he continued to slash away until a rifle ball caught into him in the chest. He cried out, "I'm done! Fire away boys! Death or glory!" and fell as a second assegai finished him off. Sussens reached his wagon, calling to his friend Whittington, but Whittington was speared as he emerged, and Sussens had to abandon his rifle. The interior of the laager was alive with Zulus (Page 473) ....
the company of the 1st/13th posted there. A vicious little fight devoloped amongst the maddened cattle crammed into the kraal, and then the infantry extricated itself and retreated along the palisade to the shelter of the redoubt. Wood stood in the path of the retreat and hurried men streaming ... (Page 494)
Hope that gives you a lotta great ideas to think on. A lot of em might be pretty random. However, story structure is about refrain/restraint as much as it is going full force with an idea. As the last little battle on 494 demonstrates. Best way to preserve the peace sometimes means a getaway, and not establishing friendship. ! :-) Hahaha.
Feel free to reach out to me anytime. I'm always trying to help the filmmaking community stay afloat with ideas. Let me know of any ideas that start to circulate the wheels of fate, brother Adam~!
Hope all is well for the holidays, and hope to see you around~!
Best,
